Maverick Musings
I’m sitting in a HUGE pile of gratitudes and thank you’s from the event. As the ‘face’ I get a lot of the accolades but really they should go to the amazing people around me. I’m overjoyed at how the vision I had got expanded and enhanced by Sophia and the remainder of Team Green. Kudos to Ian, Kim, Rose, Dima, Ally and Glenda.
I love creating unique ‘sand boxes’ for the worlds visionaries, change makers and entrepreneurial leaders to learn, connect and play in! I couldn’t have asked for a better first ever Camp experience.
It’s been great seeing so many fabulous posts about the camp experience. Looks like it will become an annual gathering of people taking the ‘green pill’.
We have quite a few early sign-ups and if you want to tell your colleagues or friends about it – send them to GoCampMaverick.com for early notice about next one.
The very next day after Camp – I was supposed to have a Maverick Charm City Impact day, working with local startups. It had been scheduled at the beginning of the year since we do the 3rd Monday of every month and I missed the fact it was my son Zack’s 10th birthday. I told Zack I couldn’t hang out in the morning and his eyes welled up a bit. I had already planned to leave a bit early and make sure I was home for the birthday dinner – but maybe that wasn’t enough.
As I got in the car, I started thinking about the choices your family will remember. I only got about 10 min down the road before calling my Maverick Local co-founder, Joe Mechlinski. He said I should definitely head back and that he had it covered.
I think to what Zack will remember later on.
It definitely won’t be a meeting, but me walking back in the door to surprise him with a full day together…that’s what he’ll remember. Another good reminder of why we do what we do, with the flexibility of steering our own course as Mavericks.
All the best,
Yanik
