By the time you get this, some of the Mavericks will be in Denver, CO for this year’s final 3X Multiplier Retreat. I’m looking forward to sharing the exciting details of this trip when I get back, especially since we are trying something new with the IMPACT 2.0 (the bees). The theme of this trip is Re-Invention – something I’m sure we all have or will experience. From special guest Richard Teerlink, former CEO of Harley Davidson discussing how he turned around (re-invented) Harley from the brink of failure, to taking on a global cause and brainstorming businesses and models (and actually implementing them with the help of NEXT members and other young entrepreneurs) – Re-Invention will definitely be in the air! Some of the members will be hitting the road with their Harleys while others will be experiencing Sophia’s “surprise activities.” Be on the lookout for pictures!

Speaking of Young Entrepreneurs, immediately after the 3X Retreat, we’re putting on the Maverick NEXT Summit. It’s in Boulder, CO (Oct 26-28, 2014).

Maverick NEXT is our membership group of exceptional young entrepreneurs 25 and under with successful businesses. NEXT Summit will be a gathering of NEXT’ers and special invited guests. The Summit will be in the form of workshops, masterminds, and presentations focused on taking these young entrepreneurs to the next level – professionally and personally.

I’m also really excited to present at Success Summit 3.0. It’s a pretty stellar group of speakers likeTony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, John Mackey, CEO Whole Foods, etc, It’s right after in Boulder, CO (Oct 30 – Nov 2, 2014)

I’ll be presenting on my upcoming book, “Evolved Enterprise.” My commitment is actually to have a galley in every Mavericks hands for the Oct 3X Retreat.

And that leaves only one major experience for the remainder of 2014 –

Maverick Regional Hub Update – Maverick Charm City

As you may have seen, Maverick #207, Joe Mechlinski and I teamed up to start Maverick Charm City this summer. Charm City is the nickname for Baltimore, MD. We’re looking to continue growing regional hubs that will truly transform their communities. The group is already deep into working with Living Classrooms, one of the premier non profits in Baltimore with multiple campus locations. They believe in experiential learning and have turned around some of the worst schools in Baltimore, creating successful work programs for ex-offenders. Living Classrooms has been tapping into the Maverick Charm City network to brainstorm new business ventures that are profitable and don’t require donor revenue.

Somewhat in line with Homeboy Industries, Living Classrooms has been running a very successful work program for ex-offenders and we’re looking at co-creating a new 21^st century digital skill training program with them. The first project will be around selling digital web services to local small business owners who need inexpensive web updates. It’s called “Small Business Super Heroes” and once the BETA is up and going it’s something that can be expanded to other areas. Check out the diagram:
