“… the ability to build our youth and empower all people to maximize their true God-given talent: In my world, thatʼs what giving back is all about.”
Welcome Damien! Tell us about your business…
I am a serial entrepreneur, who since the age of 15 has started and developed several million-dollar enterprises. Currently I am President and CEO of GoMobile Solutions, the premier leader in modern marketing mobile applications. I am proud to state that GoMobile Solutions has recruited and trained over 3,000 resellers worldwide, who now provide the opportunity for any business to become mobilized, market savvy, and successful. We accomplish this by providing businesses with the latest technology and
information they need to compete in the fast moving, awesome world of mobile
commerce, which includes everything from advertising to payment processing.
As a business solutions company, Iʼm always searching for new ways and ideas to make my team and their customers successful.
Why did you become a member of Maverick1000 and why are you a good fit for the group?
I became a member because I could really relate with many of the other members, who are also self-made successes and a bit “adventurous.” Itʼs a good fit for me, because I enjoy giving back and sponsor a number of charities myself. The best thing I like about Mavericks is how we share our time and experiences with young entrepreneurs, providing them with just a little insight and encouragement that can change the world. Exciting stuff.
What top things would you like to gain / learn / do with other Mavericks, and what unique value do you bring to the group?
My personal mantra has always been, “Creating new relationships, making friends, and expanding my own thinking, while having a positive impact helping others.” Mavericks is perfect for this, and I know my own unique blend of creativity, coupled with focus, can add value to any discussion and allow us to grow to the next level.
What interests, activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
Iʼm an avid snowboarder—and have the bumps and bruises to prove it. I also like deep sea fishing and have competed in a few tournaments. I play golf, but often get distracted and engaged with the people Iʼm playing with, always with a mindset of building strong relationships. My game suffers but I still win. I like to get involved in fundraising,
especially for young entrepreneurs. And one of my biggest joys is camping with my girls. I am now the Chief of our Indian Princess tribe, and loving it.
[Editor’s note: Eek! I was an Indian Princess with my Dad when I was little — and those are some of my favorite childhood memories. I had no idea the program was still around. I need to ask you more about the “modern” version sometime! 🙂]
What are the top adventures / things on your Big Life List now?
Would love to get into outer space. The way things are going, Iʼm pretty sure Iʼll get my wish. On the flip side of that coin, Iʼd like to explore the inner space of the ocean. Scuba diving has always called to me for its promise of exploration and calmness. We live by the ocean and see only the waves, yet the world beneath is vast, mysterious, dangerous and calling to me. Right up there with inner and outer space is the space we all share. I want to be able to touch every continent to see it all for myself.
What’s the most “Maverick” thing you’ve ever done?
The most Maverick thing Iʼve done has created the strongest residual impact on my life and my self-reliance. At age 15, while others weʼre still in school, I struck out on my own. I learned how to do business and create business, sell ideas and work with people. I discovered I liked it, I was good at it, and I never looked back. Later in my career, I started a business opportunities company, that created thousands of new businesses on the Internet. During this time, I became aware the banks were only offering credit card processing services to well-established businesses. This meant the biz opp entrepreneur was completely ignored. I developed a unique way to take on the financial institutions, and rewrote the rules for any business to be able to accept credit cards. This effectively leveled the playing field for all businesses.
What’s the most significant / important contribution you’ve made to a community or nonprofit organization?
Currently, Iʼm focused on building a community of entrepreneurs. This network of startup and small business owners— now rounding over 2,800 globally—is creating new jobs and hope for people of all ages. This opportunity is taking advantage of the latest in technology trends… the rise of mobile marketing. National statistics demonstrate the mobile apps business has created over 500,000 jobs already in the United States. Aside from this, Iʼve worked on and contributed to many non-profit and noble causes, which I have supported both monetarily and through my time— organizations that foster the ability to build our youth, and empower all people to maximize their true God-given talent. In my world, thatʼs what giving back is all about.
Which books, authors or programs have been a powerful influence in your business and life?
One book that helped me transform my company at the time was Business at the Speed of Thought, by Bill Gates. Back in 1999, my staff and I would read and report on one chapter per week, and discuss the implications to our business and the world. From this process, we gleaned not only what Gates perceived, and knew about business and technology, but we also synthesized the material into a shared vision. Of course, I would be remise not to give credit to Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill—a classic that still works for me. And The Richest Man in Babylon, by George Clason, one of the greatest wealth creation books of all time.
What’s the weirdest skill, quirk or stupid human trick you’re known for? (C’mon, we’re gonna find out anyway.)
I can flip my eyelids back and make them stay. I know, freaky huh? It worked out great when chasing the girls around the school campus, LOL.

“…I instantly knew that this is a group that is up to big things in business and in life.”
Welcome Maceo! Tell us about your business…
We have two aspects of business today. The first is an Adwords Optimization and Audit consultancy. We have two groups—a once-a-month in-depth review for advertisers with less than $500,000 in annual spending. And a three-day Optimization and Audit intensive, for advertisers over $500,000 annually.
The second aspect is SocialRoi (www.GetSocialRoi.com) the only tool available that gives a business a guaranteed path to turn online comments, friends, tweets and mentions into dollars-and-cents ROI. We offer a do-it-yourself menu and a full-service, done-for-you menu.
Why did you become a member of Maverick1000 and why are you a good fit for the group?
I became a Maverick for two reasons… actually three. The first is: I’ve always been a Maverick in deed and in DNA. Second, after experiencing the group, I instantly knew that this is a group that is up to big things in business and in life. Third, my experience in building a multi-national publishing and technology company can add tremendous value business-wise, and my heart and spirit of coaching can add tremendous value personal-wise.
What top things would you like to gain / learn / do with other Mavericks, and what unique value do you bring to the group?
Life is full of challenges. Some experience these challenges as dreadful—or at least painful—and, thus walk away with something less impactful, less power-inducing than is possible. Experiencing adversity and personal challenge with a group dedicated to impacting their local and global community can only improve me, the group, and the world.
What interests, activities or hobbies do you enjoy?
(In no particular order:) Sky diving, tactical shooting, first person shooter video games, real life adventure games, acting, bible study, ministry, coaching.
What are the top adventures / things on your Big Life List now?
Funny enough, I don’t have a “Big Life List” because it became the “in thing to do.” Rather, I’ve arranged my life to generate Big Life Events by playing games that have a chance to impact on local/global levels.
What’s the most “Maverick” thing you’ve ever done?
LOL. Are you talking like “playing quarters with Yanik” kind of Maverick?
I’m actually in the midst of a Maverick-style project: I’m taking two “regular guys” and building a $125 million dollar company in, around, and with them.
What’s the most significant / important contribution you’ve made to a community or nonprofit organization?
Jesus said, “…give so your right hand doesn’t know what your left is doing.” Which makes giving public details tough. Hopefully this will give you some answer: There is no separation from ministry/contribution and my business life. Creating the possibility, first, that a life of “perpetual contribution” IS possible has helped me to live and think, “out there” in the community. From this, I’ve seen entire towns in the midwest renovated, families transformed, communities helped, and widows fed.
Which books, authors or programs have been a powerful influence in your business and life?
- I created one at the same time, and in the same technology, as Mark Joyner’s Simpelology. His is much more refined than mine.
- You can’t beat Ecclesisasties by Solomon for business and life wisdom/perspective.
- The Landmark Forum and Landmark Advanced Course, for a way of organizing thought, are fantastic—although I must disclaim their worldview in the Advanced Course’s last session.
- Start With No is a great book on negotiating and sales, also the consulting work.
- Crossing the Chasam if you market technology, is a must.
- Microtrends, Freakonomics, and Tipping Point for understanding why we get successful, and why sometimes success just isn’t possible, despite our best efforts.
- The Rest of The Gospel for understanding the letters that make up the New Testament in the Bible.
- Reminiscences of a Stock Operator for understanding how the stock market really works.
- The Alchemy of Finance for understanding how a big hedge fund thinks.
- Predictably Irrational for “getting” sales psychology.
- Your Money and Your Brain for understanding why people act crazy about money.
- Dan Kennedy’s Influential Writing, “Area Exclusive Program” and “High Fee Bootcamp.”
- Eating The Loser—hard to find audio cassettes on commodities trading.
- Confessions of a Stock Addict (follows Reminiscences above).
- The Unseen Hand for a different view on history.
- The Creature From Jeckyl Island to understand the US money system.
- Story for understanding how to create good stories.
What’s the weirdest skill, quirk or stupid human trick you’re known for? (C’mon, we’re gonna find out anyway.)
I can do some pretty good accents.
[Editor’s Note: I can 100% confirm this skill. Either that, or Maceo *is* in fact a Russian Spy, who does a really good “Regular guy doing Russian Spy” impression.]
