We are super excited to “start spreading the news” about our newest member of Team Green – Lisa Bunning! Please see the little note below from Lisa herself to learn a bit more about her and what she will be doing to help make Maverick Land a better place for us all!
Hello Mavericks!
My name is Lisa, you can call me the Maverick Super Glue, and I am psyched to be the newest member of Team Green! I will be managing Maverick projects, behind-the-scenes details, and generally supporting Team Green’s needs, utilizing what my husband believes to be my superpower: an abundance of energy, mostly directed at organizing the chaotic world around me.
I come to you with a background in Biology education (dabbling), educational and social justice (deep integration), and project management, which is currently my favorite role and my forte. I’m a terrific cat herder, and I can keep all of the frogs in the wheelbarrow as I push it along at full speed.
I am simultaneously employed full-time as “mom” to a precocious 1.5 year old boy, and two rambunctious mutts. My English husband is a helicopter pilot flying tours over the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas Strip. We met while each on a year-long international backpacking trip*. After crossing paths for the third time in New Zealand, we took the hint. I’ve been to 19 countries and hope that one day my son thinks we’re cool enough to travel with us to another 19.
When I’m not working with the talented and creative Team Green, I hike, read, travel, bake, make art projects out of egg cartons, and sometimes mindlessly watch movies when I should be sleeping.
*At age 29, this trip was my Maverick moment. I worked for years with barely any time off and felt that I could no longer innovate in my job. I had saved money and researched extensively in the hopes that my trip might one day be a reality, but was mostly just wistful. And then I decided that life is a self-fulfilling prophecy, so I sold my furniture, packed a backpack and set off to see the world.
I am really looking forward to this next chapter and learning all about what it means to have taken the “green pill!”
