So, about me….well there is lots to tell. But I will give you the short of the long of it. I was born in Olympia, Washington to pseudo hippy parents who lived on a little country homestead with lots of vegetables, chickens and rabbits. My brother, sister and I were home-schooled for several years in elementary school. As weird as it felt at the time, I look back and really appreciate the one on one time my mother spent with us. We read many library books, which I am confident strongly contributed to my overly active imagination. By the time we were put into public schools we were ridiculously advanced in each of our grades. While in school, I ran cross country, rode horses (hunt seat and jumping) and competed in drama competitions.
I went to college at Northwest University in Kirkland, WA. on drama scholarships and traveled up and down the west coast as a member of a four person improv team known as A.C.T.S. I have gone from drama to business to medicine to film school, finally finishing with a degree in interdisciplinary studies with a focus on film and media. I worked with a production company called Jabberwocky Productions for seven years. Together we made a number of music videos, commercials, documentaries and feature work. My specialties are writing, editing, and directing.
If you were to ask my friends “describe Rose,” they would say that I am full of ideas, overly creative, energetic, loyal and very weird. How weird you ask? Well, here are some examples: Yes I made up the word “bugful” when I was young and have infiltrated many people’s vocabularies. Yes, I convinced all of the kids in my neighborhood that the Vietnam war was fought in the field across from my house. Yes…..I super-glued an Australian flag to my brother’s bottom while he was sleeping and yes, I recently spent a significant amount of time watching Youtube videos of people falling off of their Segway’s. Maybe someday I will show you the one that made me laugh the hardest. I love my family, I love animals, I love to run crazy races and I love good wine.
Three things I want to do before I die?
- Hold a baby tiger.
- Raise a team of huskies and compete in the Iditarod.
- Write and direct a feature film that makes it into Sundance. And I am super excited to meet and get to know all of you!!
