Maverick took Impact to the next level in 2015. Three significant events included the organization of the Maverick Impact Advisory (MIA) Board and working with two cause partners, Village Enterprise and the Super Hero Training Academy. Here’s a quick update on what the MIA Board did in December.
We’re drawing our work with the Super Hero Training Academy (STA) to a close. Since our Detroit 3X Retreat their Maverick Cause Champion, Derek Woryn, and over a dozen other Mavericks have provided a long list of gifts and services to strengthen STA. These items have included funds from the Maverick Impact Fund, a new house (headquarters), short-term funding for a marketing position, professional marketing videos and much more. As a final gift from Maverick we’re looking for someone in the Maverick community to establish an Amazon Smile account for STA to provide them with a bit of long-term funding. If you’re interested in doing this please reach out to our Spontaneous Butterfly, Shelby, shelby@contentdivas.com. Maverick Impact left a neighborhood in inner city Detroit a lot better off than we found it.
Our final Maverick Impact act of December is to raise the funds necessary to establish a “Maverick Village” in Africa. Our first cause partner of 2015, Village Enterprise, is one of the best cause partners that the Mavericks have ever worked with. If there is enough interest in the Maverick Community we would like to create a “Maverick Village” to carry on the work. $25,000 funds an entire village. One of the things we loved about Village Enterprise was how clearly they show the results and impact associated with every dollar donated. They are organized, established and transparent. They are the perfect example of a charity that learns to fish instead of asking for fish. Several Mavericks have already donated. We only need $14,000 more to fund an entire Village that would be our own “Maverick Village”. If you’re looking for a great place to put some funds before the end of the year, this could be a great choice. Reach out to our Spontaneous Butterfly, Shelby, shelby@contentdivas.com, if you’d like to contribute.
The MIA Board selected Crisis Response International (CRI) to be the cause partner at our upcoming 3X Retreat in San Diego. You can’t read the news without hearing about ISIS and their works of evil. CRI is working on the front lines in Ebril, Kurdistan-Iraq to restore the lives of women who were rescued from ISIS sex slavery. We’re going to work to strengthen CRI’s program that helps these women get their lives back. The program provides women with physical and psychological care, including the training and tools to help them sustain themselves for the long term in micro businesses. Come join us in February as we take Maverick Impact to new places by getting involved in the front lines battling ISIS.
We’re looking forward to our biggest Maverick Impact year yet in 2016!
Wishing you a happy new year, and thanking you for all that you do,
The Maverick MIA Board,
Boyd, Shelby, Craig, and Rachel
