“You don’t have to have all the answers, you just have to be willing to share what you know.”
― Jason Early
It takes a lot of hard work, dedication, falling down/getting back up and humility to find one’s personal success as an Entrepreneur. As Mavericks, we feel that we are responsible for passing the entrepreneurial torch to others who are seeking to realize their own dreams. This is why we look for opportunities to get involved, give of our time and expertise and reward those who are seeking input and working hard to achieve their goals.
Which brings me to our next Startup competition taking place in Washington DC July 30-August 1, 2014. This competition will be unique in that we are sticking with the theme of honoring our service people and hosting a competition for startups run by Green Beret vets. Most of these vets have been through severe trauma while serving our country, even loosing limbs or loved ones. We are honored to have them and are looking forward to hearing their stories.
Here’s how you can get involved! We are looking for the following:
Maverick Mentors: We are looking for six volunteer Maverick mentors who will meet with these startups on a regular basis. As a mentor you will offer your counsel and expertise to these startups as they build their businesses. Frequency and level of involvement is flexible.
Maverick Resources: We are looking for resources within the Maverick family to make available to these startups. Whether your specialty is copywriting, web design, business plan analysis, finance or anything else that starting a business requires – we are looking for ways to surround these Green Beret vets and assist them on their journeys to becoming entrepreneurs.
Do you want to be a mentor or do you have a skill/resource to donate? Please contact Rose at rose@maverick1000.com.

Lauren Musto

Phresh is a mobile platform that makes it as simple as possible to browse and purchase clothing across retailers. It breaks down the mass chaos of online shopping into digestible pieces and allows users to find what they like by using a single binary swipe. It uses a minimalist interface, showcasing just one single item at a time full-screen on the phone’s display. You tell Phresh if you like or dislike the item by swiping to the right or to the left, respectively. Phresh then intelligently displays the next item based on your preferences, similar to a Pandora or Spotify for apparel.
Update
Lauren has been meeting with Maverick member #215 Jeremy Shapiro on a regular basis. Jeremy has been counseling Lauren on the launch of her beta test (happening this summer). Working with Jeremy has enabled Lauren to organize and prioritize her business approach. As a result, Phresh is getting closer and closer to being a fully functioning mobile apparel app.
